  1. Reminders Demo

  3. Reminders is a program designed to provide computer-generated reminders defined by the user. It flashes an icon and plays a sound whenever a time set for the reminder occurs.

  5. A different sound may be selected for each reminder. Sounds from other programs may be used in Reminders. Several special sounds ship with Reminders.

  7. Reminders allows old reminders to be archived as a means of keeping a record of past activities.

  9. This is a demonstration version of Reminders. It is identical to the commercial version with the exception that it allows only three reminders to be entered at one time. Feel free to distribute this demo without restriction.

  13. Installation

Reminders is best installed in its own folder on the same volume as your System Folder. Use “Set Startup” in the Finder’s Special menu to set Reminders to start up automatically when your Macintosh is turned on. Make sure you are running MultiFinder, since Reminders runs in the background even when you are using other programs.

  18. When Reminders first runs, it creates two documents, “My Reminders” and “Archive”. These documents are used to save the reminders you enter.

  20. Reminders also creates a preferences document, “Reminders Prefs”, in your System Folder (under System 6.0.x), or in your Preferences folder (under System 7).

  22. Reminders comes with several sounds built-in, and can play any others that you record or install. Use Preferences to add sound documents to be used by Reminders, or add sounds to your System.

  24. Getting Started

  27. The best way to get started is to use Balloon Help under System 7. If you do not have System 7, experiment with:
  28. • New, to create a reminder
  29. • Typing text for a reminder
  30. • Setting the time for a reminder alarm
  31. • Setting the sound for a reminder alarm with the popup menu
  32. • Close, to put the reminder away until its alarm time comes
  33. • Open, to open a reminder selected from the list of your reminders
  34. • Remove, to remove a reminder that’s no longer needed
  35. • Save to Archive, to save a reminder in the archive. Archived reminders never cause alarms, and are useful as a record of your activities.
